Framing the Scene - A Cinematic Approach to a Redevelopment at the Halifax Waterfront

This thesis investigates the role in which cinematic techniques and the structure of multiple narratives can begin to correspond with each other in order to stimulate growth of an industrial waterfront site. A mode for intervention and investigation was applied in order to explore the potential of the industrial port as a place for layered narratives.

The architecture detects, reveals and links fragments of spacial narratives existing on the site and provides a base for the production of new ones. Three buildings were proposed across the site which serve to reanimate misused space of the waterfront.
